Homelab & this setup

Everything that keeps this site and my experiments running — documented the way I'd want it handed over. Cheap, boring, reliable.

Hosting

AWS EC2 t3.small · Ubuntu 26.04 · Cape Town (af-south-1)

One 2-vCPU / 1GB instance running everything on this site. nginx serves the static pages directly — no application server, no container stack, no database. 1GB swap keeps the OOM killer at bay.

Analytics

Google Analytics 4

Web analytics via Google Analytics 4. The gtag.js snippet loads straight from Google, so there is no analytics stack on this box to run, patch or page anyone about.

Expansion

Blog backlog, more detailed case studies, and a search index across posts. Possibly a proper uptime check on this box.

Ideas in queue

Images/lighthouse scoring, a v2 of the homelab diagram with live status lights, and a proper uptime check on the site itself.
